Report demolition and removal of asbestos

Submit a notification for each asbestos job. This applies to both demolition and removal of asbestos or asbestos-containing material. If your company does both, you only need to submit one notification.

You must first obtain a permit from us to demolish or remove asbestos. Once you have received the permit, you must notify us of each individual asbestos job. Submit the notification no later than two working days before you begin the asbestos work.

Urgent work

In urgent cases, for example in the event of a water leak, you may contact the Swedish Work Environment Authority to ask for a verbal approval to start work immediately.

Notifications submitted before the regulatory change

On 19 December 2025, the Swedish Work Environment Authority’s regulations were amended. If you submitted a notification for demolition or removal before that date, you do not need to submit a new notification for that job.

How to notify us

  • Complete the form on this page. Please note that you must fill in all required information and submit your notification in one single submission.

  • Once we have received your notification, the contact person will receive an automatic confirmation by email.

  • As an employer, you must ensure that the confirmation is available at the workplace where the work is carried out, so that it can be shown if we visit the workplace.

  • We keep the notification and may inspect the workplace while the work is ongoing.

  • Contact our work environment guidance.
