Prior notification of construction site

The developer should, except for smaller jobs, send a prior notification to the Swedish Work Environment Authority before work begins.

As a contracting authority you must notify a construction site to the Swedish Work Environment Agency if any of the following apply:

  • The construction or civil engineering works will last for more than 30 working days on the construction site and more than 20 people will be working simultaneously on the site at any one point.
  • The workers on the construction site will work more than 500 person-days, that is to say everyone working will together work more than 500 days in total.

The purpose of prior notification is to ensure that the Swedish Work Environment Agency is aware of all ongoing construction and civil engineering work.

Give notification before the work starts on the construction site. Use the information you have available at present.

    You fill in information on:

    • The contracting authority, that is to say the person who is having the work carried out, including the name, address and contract person

      Email it to

You can also print out the form and send it to

If conditions on the construction site change, you must update the notice, but you need not notify the Swedish Work Environment Agency of the changes.

The Swedish Work Environment Agency will record and save your notification for as long as the work on the construction site is under way. We may inspect the construction site if we deem it necessary to do so.

Once we have received your notification, you will receive an automatic reply to the email address which you have given.
