The Swedish Work Environment Authority and the Presidency of the EU

On 1 July 2009, Sweden took over the Presidency of the EU for a period of six months. The Swedish Work Environment Authority has been given the resposibility for the programme in the area of work environment. Preparations are under way. Several conferences are planned, e.g.

• Occupational exposure to electromagnetic fields: paving the way for a future EU initiative on 6-8 October 2009 in Umeå

• Meeting of the Committee of Senior Labour Inspectors on 23-24 November 2009 in Stockholm

• Company practices in the face of the economic down-turn on 15 December 2009 in Stockholm
